SONG OF LOVE

TOM MALCOLM

SONG OF LOVE

You have walked with me on the mountain

when I set foot on those bare rocks

facing the wind’s challenge,

seeking Thor

in the storm’s song.

You have sat with me on the river bank

watching the leaves race

in the liberating waters

Shot with lightning

While I yearned for such freedom.

You have stood with me in the ship’s bows

when my heart surged

to the changing sea

and the constant sky

and the low land calling in the distance.

You have knelt with me in the field,

crumbling the soil,

Breathing the sweet grass rising,

the heavy wheat

weaving sunlight.

And now I am with you,

Beloved of Freya,

In the gentle hearth-light of our home

and we speak of children

land it is good.
