A Viking's Passing

Subject: [whitespeak] A Viking's Passing

Subject: A Viking's Passing

It is precisely because I love our European culture, in all its regional manifestations, that I become passionate when I see that it is threatened.

My father advises me that I must think more as a soldier. When the enemy is engaged and killing is going on all around you, one must disassociate one's self from emotion as much as possible and concentrate on the mission. He also says, you are allowed, however, to realize that your first duty is to destroy the enemies ability to cause casualties among your people and to break their resistance.

Sometimes my passions get the better of me, but my motive is to protect what is ours, for it is the very heart within me. I had written the following poem before, but I shall dedicate it to Kristopher Kime, who died attempting to protect a White woman under brutal assault in Seattle:

A Viking's Passing (honoring the courage of a brave man)

The sun is setting,
day is done.
Here comes the night,
no more the fight,
calm now are the seas.

Still is the hand,
which wielded sword and ax,
Never more, never more.
To take tiller and oar.
The adventure at its end,
Farewell, my trusted friend.

The final crossing comes.
Across the swelling billows,
to Valhalla.
To awaken upon Freya's pillow.
To touch the golden braid,
of so beautiful a maid.
And so, find peace.

Sincerely,

Heather Clarisa Clark
